Home. My life in another world.
Growing up I always counted my blessings. My parents were able to raise my sister and I in two totally different worlds. The worlds being the United States and Lebanon. We were exposed to the reality of the world outside of the “free world”. We were taught that not everything is black and white, that there is a lot of grey as well. But under all that darkness there is still a light that shows us a world that is beautiful with color. I am proud to call this colorful world my Home.
One of my favorite things to experience are sunsets. No matter where I am I try to watch the sunset. However, my favorite place is from the mountains of Jaj, Lebanon. The mixes of red, orange, blue and purple all make the moment unique. You could watch the sun set from the same spot every night and no two would look and feel the same.
Growing up in the US, I always thought fruit was fruit. And that it all looked the same. Boy was I wrong. Everything I saw was bright and vibrant. It showed me that even in a poor country everything will be ok. And under all that dust there are beautiful black cherries and juicy watermelons waiting to be eaten.
